Where to find the rest of my political commentary

Since politics has taken center stage with the election coming up in a few weeks, I have been posting heavily on political topics on my main blog. Please feel free to stop by and get your daily fill of my political commentary.

I knew these two sounded an awful lot alike

Michelle Goldberg on Palin's debate performance: "It was an apalling display..."

I'm not the only one who thinks that Sarah Palin's performance at last night's debate was not only lack-luster, but a complete mockery of the office of VP (with all those winks and phony nods). I actually made a blog post and podcast episode about this here on my main blog. However, I wanted to share part of an article written by Michelle Goldberg of The Guardian UK:

And so she preceded, with an almost surreal disregard for the subjects she was supposed to be discussing, to unleash fusillades of scripted attack lines, platitudes, lies, gibberish and grating references to her own pseudo-folksy authenticity.

It was an appalling display. The only reason it was not widely described as much is that too many American pundits don't even try to judge the truth, wisdom or reasonableness of the political rhetoric they are paid to pronounce upon. Instead, they imagine themselves as interpreters of a mythical mass of "average Americans" who they both venerate and despise.

This has to be one of the most spot on descriptions of Palin's performance that I've read today. The world is watching, and the last thing I want the world to think about the US is that our citizens are so apathetic and asleep at the wheel that we have sunk so low as to elect a clearly unqualified person to one of the highest offices in the nation. This simply cannot be allowed.

The painting of the women of The View hunting down John McCain like it's a witch hunt is hilarious! I guess this artist won't be voting for the McCain-Palin ticket. Take a look (lol):

Hear the VP nominees' views on the separation of church and state

I actually thought Sarah Palin's response to this question was pretty good. She' just got to learn to stop rambling on. Just state it and state it plain please. The other issue is that I don't believe that for one moment she will actually respect the separation of church and state. Unfortuantely, if elected, I believe that she will do all that she can to attempt to impose her personal views on the rest of us.

Biden did a pretty good job of answering this question as well. His answer was quite practical and came across as genuine and believable. He's an old pro though, so this didn't surprise me a bit.

Fox News, "fair and balanced" my @ss

You know, for a network that claims to be "fair and balanced" we all know that Fox News is everything but. Watch this reporter ask a diner full of people who they plan to vote for. Unanimously they choose Obama,yet the reporter calls the votes "split."

Palin's Couric interview: Can you say backpeddling?

You know it didn't even bother me that Palin called herself making a joke about Biden's age, but if you're gonna make a dig on someone, stick to it for goodness sake. How disingenuous to throw a rock and then try to hide your hand.

I won't even go into how stupid it is that she brought up an age issue when she's running with a man who if he won,would be the oldest President to take the White House in history. Seriously, he would be... that's no joke.

CNN's Jack Cafferty doesn't think Palin's ready to lead, and neither do I. Oh, and Jack Cafferty's not the only one who feels this way. Judith Warner of the New York Times said the following:

"Frankly, I’ve come to think, post-Kissinger, post-Katie-Couric, that Palin’s nomination isn’t just an insult to the women (and men) of America. It’s an act of cruelty toward her as well."

McCain has declared that he is suspending his campaign due to the nation's economic crisis. He's requested that the debate for tonight be rescheduled, but Obama says the debates will happen!

Podcast Episode #1: The "Bridge to Somewhere"

How many times have we heard both Palin and McCain make reference to the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" that Sarah Palin claims to have stopped? Of course we all know that was a thinly veiled deception considering that she was for the bridge up untilthe point when it was obvious that it wasn't going to happen.

What we really need to be concerned about is that McCain and Palin are trying to build a bridge to "somewhere"...
